The area of Physical Chemistry is divided into three operating units:

•  Unit of biological physical chemistry - Proff. Basosi/Pogni - Pogni
•  Unit of theoretical chemistry - Prof. Petrongolo
•  Unit of complex systems - Proff. Basosi/Olivucci 

These three units carry out in the department of chemistry research activity and didactics trough a series of laboratories equipped with sophisticated instruments and chemical laboratories for the organic and inorganic synthesis.
