Biological Chemistry

The Unit of Biological Physical Chemistry faces various thematic of applied physical chemistry, but its thread conductor consists in the study and interpretation of systems of biological interest , is they enzymes, proteins, complexes of metals to pharmacological interest, materials, catalysts, etc.

For this, it takes advantage of various collaborations:

  • for the synthesis with the units of Organic Area
  • for spectroscopy NMR with the Unit of Bioinorganics
  • for theoretical calculation with the Unit of Computational Chemistry

This Unit has moreover its specific competencies, of which the most important it is the Multifrequency Electron Paramagnetic Resonance with a cryostat at liquid helium temperature for measures at 4K, and also the UV/Vis characterization of protein systems and the synthesis of new materials.
